25" square
Both Japanese and American commercial cottons and also fabrics made from various transfer methods such as color xerox and dye paper resist, etc; 1994. Machine pieced, applique, quilted by hand, embroidered and embellished with threads and
3-dimensional objects. The Japanese word kinen means "commemorative object," referring to the small token
or souvenir that one takes home
from an even or tourist spot, as a rememberance. In this case, I was one
of a dozen quilt artists commissioned
to make a piece celebrating the tenth anniversary of the "Hearts and Hands" quilt association - thus the imagery of hearts and hands throughout.
In a Private Collection.
