Japan is Best with Quilters’ Express!

Japan-uary 2008 as Seen Through the Lens of Tour Leader Susan Ball Faeder

Even as Spring approaches, the gardens are gorgeous.   Mt. Fuji puts on her best face for us!   From the top of Kiyomizu, a temple built without nails, you can see all of Kyoto.

Incredible places to go,

and wonderful new friends to meet,

Akachochin (red lantern) group photo at Sensoji, Tokyo.   Friendly high schoolers greet the tourists.
'Simply' follow the dots....!   Talkin' Tie-Dye @ Arimatsu with one who knows.

Susan discusses the art of tie-dyeing
with one who knows the subject well!

Language, line, color and texture
in every corner, on every street.

My favorite pickle shop--cucumber bits with plum flavor--YUM!
The gourd shop along the Sannenzaka... still there!   The first plum blossoms of spring.
A boro boro rag-treasure-fragment detail from Amy Katoh's collection.   Ribbon Dyeing in Kyoto.

Luscious textiles to treasure,

Stencil workshop in Kyoto.   Pulling silk thread from a cocoon.   Student samples from Sashiko Class: Chiku-chiku.
Who's laughing now? The stone ladies!!

We'll shrug off the weather
2 cups of ice cream sundae complete with corn flakes?!

and enjoy delicious, fun and beautiful food to eat!
Japanese Dessert Sampler, all ten for 2000 Yen!!   Dessert in the window...your choice.

Come and join us for "Cloth and Clay," an incredible feast
for the mind and the senses October 31 - November 14, 2010!
